Diasec®  - Face Mounted Acrylic Frame - Art work that shimmers and hangs in the air

Works from our collections can be ordered with Diasec® framing. This is a unique, patented framing method that makes the colors in the art work seem even sharper and more intense. This is because the art work is affixed to the back of a sheet of plexiglass (acrylic glass), which eliminates the light reflections that occur with glazing used in a traditional frame.

Each piece is assembled with a protective back layer which in turn is attached to a recessed aluminum frame (which serves as a spacer between the art work and the wall). The effect is that the art work appears to be hanging in the air. The glossy surface of the plexiglass makes the image shimmer and gives it a three dimensional quality.

This technique has now gained wide acceptance among museums and art galleries. The technique involves a permanently elastic, smooth fusion of paper print and acrylic glass. By using a special adhesive, an airtight bond is created with no air bubbles, fixing the print with its front side to the back of UV-resistant acrylic glass.
