Title: Animals Line Color Medium: Pen and Ink Line Drawing with color
Size of Original (Inches): 26 X 18.5
Description / Artist Statement
This piece is possibly the most intricate of all the works in this series from Narendra Babu. Mythical creatures and figures from Indian religious stories and tales, as well as celestial images populate the piece. He particularly tends toward mythical animals – elephants, snakes, crocodiles, rhinoceri, gazelles, and lions – as well as images of celestial musicians and dancers drawn from Hindu mythology. We also see insects, geese, horses, mechanical objects, and an assortment of mythological semi-human figures. With these disparate pieces he creates a startling pattern of color and line that is both beautiful and disturbing.
